Letter From he Editor
Welcome to The Wave
he Wave Holistic and Metaphysical Journal is deeply engaged in the work of healing our planet through building our local community, strengthening our connections, and supporting the work of our local gited healers, metaphysicians, organic and local farmers, craters of natural products, Light and Spirit Workers, and all who wish to bring peace and healing to our world.
here is no other print publication like he Wave serving to connect and nurture this burgeoning healing community in the North Bay and San Francisco region.
But why start a PRINT magazine? Isn’t print a dinosaur? We hear in the news that people now only read digital publications and watch TV.
Print publications make connections! Micah White, the founder of the Occupy Wall Street movement, has said that the Occupy movement started as a digital meme. But, he said, within two weeks of the establishment of ANY Occupy encampment, anywhere in the US, a print newsletter or magazine was started and used to connect participants in the encampment and spread the message of Occupy.
Mr. White also said that the irst community owned business started by the Occupy movement was a print shop!
I grew up in Sonoma County. 14 years ago I moved to a small town just outside of Cincinnati, OH. When I let Northern California, the holistic and metaphysical community was just beginning to bud here. I arrived in Cincinnati to discover that
the holistic and metaphysical community there was thriving and growing. Over the years, this community has grown exponentially. Holistic healers, metaphysicians, and related businesses are
deeply connected there, working together throughout the region, (Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana), to expand the ield of enlightenment.
his connected community has been a great resource and tremendous blessing to me and countless others. I found complete healing for my chronic fatigue, and opportunities and support
to grow spiritually, develop my intuitive gits, and expand my knowledge of holistic modalities. (I also met and married a wonderful partner who is fully engaged in this work with me!)
How did this community become so connected and grow so quickly? It is clear that one of the very signiicant connecting forces in the Greater Cincinnati area is an excellent print publication, Whole Living Journal. WLJ is published every two months, is distributed free throughout the Greater Cincinnati area, and has a very robust online presence.
So I was thinkin’, “Gee, it would be great to move back to my beloved Northern California and bring that sort of engaging, connecting force to the metaphysical and holistic communities there. I have all the experience, skills, and abilities to do that. I should really do that some day. Yeah, some day soon I’ll do that.”
You know how, oten times, Spirit gives us the “push” we need to get of our kiesters and take the next step on our path. Well, Spirit
had to hit me over the head, several times, with a two-by-four. But once I set my foot on the path, he Universe smoothed the way and supported me every step of this journey.
I have teamed up with the
publisher of Whole Living Journal, Tara Robinson, to produce this beautiful, professionally edited, locally focused magazine, he Wave.
Packed with engaging and informative articles, a healthy eating advice section, book and music reviews, and a resource directory, this type of magazine has lasting power. People keep and collect issues, referring back to the articles and resource directory for months and years. his staying power connects community
and provides immeasurable value to local advertisers and article authors.
he Wave is a great place to spread the word throughout Sonoma, Napa, Marin and San Francisco about your holistic, metaphysical, or natural products and services. We invite submission of informative, educational articles and new age books and music for review. We are also looking for holistic healers and metaphysicians to write regular columns of interest to the communities we serve.
Advertising rates for he Wave are lower then any other local print publication, have options to it every budget, and include
a robust online presence. All issues archived on a fully search engine optimized website, so browsers can easily ind your article and/or ad by using any of a wide variety of related keyword searches. (By the way, a 2013 Nielson Company survey showed that households exposed to print magazine advertising campaigns spent signiicantly more (+3% to +36%) than those consumers not exposed. With an average return on investment (ROI) of $7.81 for every $1 spent, Nielsen data shows ROI from print magazine ads to be well above the average $2.79 bump ads on “digital portals/ad networks” have generated in the last ive years.)
If you would like to become a featured business distribution point for he Wave, please call or email us. Featured distribution points take 200 copies or more of he Wave for distribution. You will receive a short promotional description on our website and a link from our website to yours!
We warmly and heartily invite feedback from readers! his magazine is designed to serve YOU. Please let us know what you think, and what you would like to see in he Wave!
We at he Wave welcome the blessings of the New Year! We hold in consciousness that 2015 brings peace and abundance to our world. Our work and our goal is to do what we can to bring this about.
With Love and Gratitude to All Who Have Made his Publication Possible,
Stacey Leigh Mohr
