Relaxation Therapy:
The Number One Cure For Anxiety Disorders
R
The number one reason that relaxation therapy provides instant relief from anxiety disorders in the body is that
it allows the body to naturally release, in a relaxed way, “neurojuices” such as neurotransmitters, hormones and immune mediated chemicals that oxygenate the tissues and help the body regenerate. This response of the body to relaxation therapy is immediate, bringing rapid healing.
If you feel frozen in your stress-ridden body, you must take the time to relax, until the body begins to regenerate itself by naturally oxygenating the tissues, instead of assimilating the stress. The amazing bliss from relaxing deeply restores that feeling of wholeness we all long for.
For an in depth exploration of the science of stress I recommend the book “Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers”, by Stanford University Neurobiologist Dr. Robert Sapolosky, PhD. Dr. Sapolosky examines in great detail how we as humans have gotten stuck in the “fight or flight syndrome” and the physiological consequences of this, such as the increased secretion of glucocortisol and other steroids.
Glucocortisol is responsible for many mental and physical symptoms that appear when stress becomes toxic, including:
• Increased blood sugar and diabetes
• Increased cholesterol and triglycerides (blood fats), and
higher levels of blood platelets, which increase the risk
of heart attack and stroke
• Damage to white blood cells, leading to viral and
bacterial infections and reducing the body’s ability to detect and destroy cancer cells, which are constantly being produced within the body
• Insomnia, and both mental and physical fatigue • Anxiety, depression, and mood swings

elaxation Therapy is immediately healing and restorative to the body because it quickly addresses Anxiety Disorders: the deleterious effects anxiety, worry and stress have on the body. The term Relaxation Therapy encompasses many modalities, including massage, Reiki, Healing TouchTM, LED Light TherapyTM, guided meditation, breath work, hypnosis, and many others, and now The Life Vessel.
I also highly recommend “The Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook” (New Harbinger Self-Help
Workbook), a common sense, down-to-earth approach to stress reduction.
Here’s how Wikipedia describes nocioception:
“ A nociceptor is a receptor of a sensory neuron (nerve cell) that responds to potentially damaging stimuli by sending signals to the spinal cord and brain. This process, called nociception, usually causes the perception of pain.”
An example of nocioception is hyperalgesia , which is an increased sensitivity to pain. This may be caused by damage to nociceptors or peripheral nerves. An increased sensitivity to pain often leads directly to increased anxiety.
Relaxation therapy works for this increased anxiety because as we let go and relax, our blood vessels relax and expand, and oxygen floods our tissues. As this happens, our bodies gently release poisons and regenerate the tissues of the body. As we feel more and more relaxed, the symptoms of our anxiety disorders begin to heal.
T
body type are you and how does this body type affect your anxiety disorder and your recovery to a healthy life?
How much relaxation therapy you will need depends on how severe your anxiety disorder has become, what body type you are and what shape your body is in from the stress you have been absorbing, and for how long you have experienced chronic stress.
The good news is that Relaxation Therapy feels good because deeply relaxing instantly begins to heal anxiety disorders. All relaxation techniques work to some extent in that they
A
nother important reason relaxation therapy is the number one cure for anxiety disorders involves the concept of “nocioception.” Nocioception simply means the anatomy of perception of pain within the human body.
