Many people choose a vegetarian or vegan diet to contribute to the health of the planet, (animal protein can be environmentally expensive), because they object to the enslavement of animals, (factory farming), and out of re- spect for other living species. However, many people are discovering that they are allergic to wheat, grains, and dairy products. These people cannot obtain enough calo- ries and complete proteins on a vegetarian or vegan diet to sustain them when they must avoid grains and dairy.
One can support a healthy ecosystem, not support factory farming, and still maintain a hunter/gatherer diet.
It is not necessary to consume animal protein at every meal
or even every day. One need only eat animal protein three or four times a week, eating a wide variety of raw fruits, vegetables and nuts in between, to consume enough high quality protein to remain healthy. One can choose to eat only wild caught fish or wild game, and as our ancestors did, to honor the sacrifice of each animal’s life for the sustenance of another.
Hunter/gatherer diets, (sometimes referred to as Paleolithic diets), did not include cane sugar. These sugars, (white, brown evaporated and/ or organic), are enormous contributors to obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer, and are a tremendous strain on the liver. Pa- leolithic sweeteners include modest amounts of honey, maple syrup and fruit. Salt should also be kept to a minimum.

Waves of Change will also be offering nutrition classes later this year, with strategies for eating healthy in this modern world filled with “food-like” substances that make us sick! Classes will be posted at www.woctoheal.com.
