The Wave
Letter From The Editor
In the April/May Letter from The Editor, I spoke about “making the shift” and living in collaboration to solve our problems.
Easier said then done, eh?
We as individuals, as members of society, and as world citizens, have so many problems and issues to face. We all want to be part of creating the Big Shift – as Gandhi said to “be the change we want to see in the world”.
But sometimes it feels overwhelming to think of all the ills of this world; the violence, sickness, suffering. I often think how little ol’ me can make much of a dent in the enormous problems of environmental pollution, outrageously expensive and ineffective healthcare, violence, hatred . . . sigh . . . the list of world ills seems endless.
Then I remember Margaret Mead’s famous quote “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” It reminds me that, if we gather together to collaborate, we can make a big impact. And when I think of gathering together, I remember an often quoted passage from the New Testament, “Wherever two or more are gathered in my name, there am I”. Whether we believe in God, Allah, Spirit, The Universe, or the power of the human spirit, we all have witnessed the exponential power that comes, for good or ill, when we gather together and focus our power with purpose.
We know that people all over the planet are gathering in groups, large and small, to address issues about which they care deeply, from saving animals from abuse or extinction to preserving
our environment, from feeding starving children to saving victims of natural disasters, from providing adequate education in underprivileged areas to rethinking how we address many healthcare issues . . . the list goes on and on.
You may ask ,“Where can I start? What can I do to ‘make the shift’ or help others along their journey toward their big shift?” We try to answer these questions in each issue of The Wave, through our many informative articles, columns, and book reviews. We want to show what is possible when we work together, help each other, share our hard won wisdom, knowledge and experience.
In the spirit of believing in what is possible when we work together, The Wave has partnered with The Word Stage and PopUpsters to spread the word about POSSIBL, a very unique Interactive Solutions-Based Multi-Media event and festival coming to Pier 35 in San Francisco May 30-31.
This unprecedented Bay Area event features two days of smart conversations, presentations, showcases and demonstrations, interactive demos dedicated to creating healthier individuals and communities--all recorded for broadcast through the POSSIBL media partnerships such as Free Speech TV, and distribution to
health organizations around the area and around the world.
The theme of the conference
is summed up in a quote from
Socrates” “The Secret of Change
is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”
Some of the participants in this conference and exhibition are Yes! Magazine – Project Censored – San Francisco State University Holistic Studies – The Wave Holistic Journal - The Human Rights Action Center – Electronic Frontier Foundation – Oakland Voices – Lifewest Chiropractic College – Institute of Noetic Studies – Liveablity Project – Zero Net Energy Coalition – Homeopathic Education Systems – What the World Could Be – SF Etsy – The Metta Center for NonViolence - Conscious Dancer Magazine

But this gathering of souls to enable change is not just for them. It is for YOU. Everyone who seeks to be the change they want to see in the world, everyone who yearns for a cleaner environment and truly healthier systems, (not just the amelioration of symptoms), is invited to join the conversation.
The conference will feature open discussions and conversations about embracing new ecosystems, collaboration, cooperation, sharing, new business models and ethical leadership. A very unique interactive solutions media network will launch during the event to enable the conversations to translate into long-term action.
If you would like to join this conversation and become part of a group of thoughtful, committed people who change the world, you can get more information, tickets to POSSIBLE, booth registration for the exhibition hall, (with a code for 50% off booth fees courtesy of The Wave), by going to our website www. thewaveholisticjournal.com and clicking on EVENTS!
It is essential, as we work together to create new solutions, new systems, new ways of doing things, that we continue to seek our own evolution – to shift our own thinking and ways of being. In this and future issues of The Wave, we offer the wisdom of our local healers and metaphysicians to help us with this shift. In
this issue, we offer information on how to improve our health through better nutrition, to use our brains differently and more effectively, to shift our attitudes towards ourselves to a more loving and encouraging mindset, and to work in harmony in our loving relationships.
I hope you will find this issue of The Wave inspiring and helpful on your journey and in your daily life, and that you will join us at POSSIBL May 30-31 to help us create new ways of being with each other!
