Consciously Create
Your Life
Everybody loves Meryl Streep! She has the uncanny ability to take on roles that are the epitome of diversity itself. We are amazed by the way she can take on the personality and perspective of whatever character she is asked to play, “lose herself” in it, and then find herself again when filming is finished. She is able to
do this, in part, because she knows at her core who she is, and she is willing, from that solid core, to venture out and experiment; try on new ideas, new ways of looking at the world, new perspectives.
Please understand that you and she are not so different from each other as you might think. You and she were born in open and ready to learn. Your parents and family and your culture - which were around long before you were born - began tell you who you are supposed to be.
This is useful. Without the people in your
life programming you to fit into the world they live in, you would not have survived, let alone become a member of their tribe. At the same time, having no real experience of the value of anything that you were being “programmed” for, you accepted in blind faith that what you were programmed to think, to feel, and to do must be right.
Let me say this straight: If you are an adult, you were successful at learning your culture. The real question is, “Do you know that once you are successful, you are entitled to graduate and take on whatever life YOU choose?” Once you understand this, you can choose for yourself the next person you want to be.

Most people ask, “What am I going to do next?” Few ask the most vital question, which is, “Who am I going to be next?”
When I asked myself who I wanted to be next, the answer wasn’t doctor/lawyer/world leader. Instead, the answer was ‘someone who is happy and having a wonderful time in life.’ In a deep inquiry that went on for nearly two years, I made a leap of faith and declared that if happiness is my true calling, then there must be something in me that is already built in that would allow me to fulfill my Heart’s Desire. After all, Birds know how to and fish, to swim; it’s built in.
Face it – the child you were at 2 is not the child you were at ten, nor the teenager you were at 13 or 17, nor the person you are at 21 or 30 or even 50. We live with a fiction that we are the same all through our lives. NOTHING could be further from the truth. We have simply been programmed to believe that we are “always
the same person,” because, for the mind, the guardian of stability, being the same all your life is stability itself.
To re-invent yourself is to graduate from
the role you have been playing endlessly – in Hollywood, they call that type casting – and
to start asking new questions like, “When am I
at my most passionate?” “When I am my most passionate, what is the result that I always
get?” “If I knew I was going to be a parent to this person I am, what name would I give myself, so I could always remember who I am?”
The truth that set me free about those questions is that I am the Beloved (Being),
